Ms. Kristal Funk to Serve as The Intergenerational School – East Interim Principal

We are pleased to announce The Intergenerational School – East’s interim school leader will be Ms. Kristal Funk.
Kristal has a wide breadth of experience and knowledge of our students, staff, and school community that make her uniquely qualified to serve in this bridge position. We’re grateful to have a leader who will help us ensure an excellent year for students, staff, and families.
Last Spring, Kristal provided literacy professional development and coaching at all three Intergenerational Schools through the end of the school year. We feel grateful to be able to expand our work with Kristal this school year at TIS-East.
Ms. Funk brings experience as an instructional coach and an advocate for culturally relevant and responsive education. She has worked with teachers at all levels, including both elementary and middle school. Recently, she has been working with the state of New Mexico to develop a tool to audit curricular materials for bias and cultural relevance to the students they serve.

Kristal joins us after finishing a short-term residency with teachers in Bolivia and started at TIS-East on Monday, August 9th. We feel incredibly fortunate to have found someone with Ms. Funk’s combination of skills and experiences. We are happy to have her as a member of the Intergenerational Schools community of lifelong learners.
